But Allah sent\n\tdown His tranquillity upon His Messenger and upon the believers and imposed\n\tupon them the word of righteousness, and they were more deserving of it and\n\tworthy of it. And ever is Allah, of all things, Knowing. I heard him say about a difficult situation that happened to him\nduring his sickness, &#8220;When I got very sick, I asked those who were around me to\nrecite on me the verses that speak about tranquility. Once they did, I recovered\ncompletely.&#8221;<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify;direction:ltr;unicode-bidi:embed\">\n<span style=\"line-height: 107%; font-family: Adobe \u0646\u0633\u062e Medium; font-weight: 700\">\n<font size=\"4\">I read these verses and I found that they had a great influence\non the assurance and tranquility of the heart.}<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify;direction:ltr;unicode-bidi:embed\">\n<span style=\"line-height: 107%; font-family: Adobe \u0646\u0633\u062e Medium; font-weight: 700\">\n<font size=\"4\">\nSheikh Muhammad Al-Munajjid says: \u201cThe origin of serenity is tranquility, dignity and calmness that Allah sends down into the heart of His servant when he is disturbed by intense fears, so that he is not disturbed after that by what befalls him, and it requires him to increase his faith, strengthen his certainty and steadfastness. That is why Allah, the Almighty, informed us of sending it down upon His Messenger and the believers in places of anxiety and turmoil, such as the Day of Migration, when he and his companion were in the cave, and the enemy was over their heads. If one of them looked down at what was beneath his feet, he would see them. And like the Day of Hunayn when they turned their backs due to the severity of the infidels\u2019 violence, not one of them paying attention to the other. And like the Day of Hudaybiyyah when their hearts were disturbed by the infidels\u2019 control over them and their submission to their conditions that souls cannot bear. And it is enough for you that \u2018Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, was unable to bear it, and he was \u2018Umar, until Allah strengthened him with Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him.\u201d\n<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify;direction:ltr;unicode-bidi:embed\">\n<span style=\"line-height: 107%; font-family: Adobe \u0646\u0633\u062e Medium; font-weight: 700\">\n<font size=\"4\">\nWhoever recites the verses of tranquility in situations of fear and panic, or in situations of doubt and temptation, or in times of worry and sadness, or when the whispers of Satan intensify, reciting them in the hope that Allah will strengthen his heart with what He has strengthened the hearts of the believers, there is no blame on him. It is hoped that this will be his, as was the case with Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and his student Ibn al-Qayyim. However, the desirability of reciting these verses\u2014and in this manner\u2014should not be attributed to the Shari&#8217;ah, nor should it be considered an act of worship similar to the religious remembrances and supplications established in the Qur&#8217;an and Sunnah.
